I received my PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision in 2018 from the University of Iowa. I also have my Master’s degree from Saint Cloud State University located in Minnesota in Rehabilitation Counseling. I utilize many of the foundational concepts of rehabilitation counseling such as advocacy, and a larger systems approach to much of my work and therapeutic lens. I operate from a holistic approach exploring all aspects of a person and their environment and how this may be impacting their overall mental health and wellbeing. A primary belief that I hold about counseling is that it does not need to be only when we are experiencing a crisis or problem. Sometimes the intention of therapy can and should be to learn more about yourself, your relationships, and how your life experiences have impact you.
I have experience in working individuals with a various disabilities such as neurological conditions like traumatic brain injury, stroke, Parkinson or other neuro-disabilities. Working with this specific population and given both my mental health and rehabilitation counseling training has provided me the tools to be successful in working with the adjustment population. I enjoy working with individuals who are experiencing life transitions, depression, and anxiety.
